In just his tenth start as a professional, Titleist Brand Ambassador Matteo Manassero sealed a four stroke victory at the Castello Masters and broke a European Tour record in the process. At 17 years and 188 days, Manassero becomes the youngest ever European Tour winner after trusting the #1 Ball in Golf and a full bag of Titleist clubs to claim his maiden professional victory ahead of fellow Pro V1x player Ignacio Garrido. Joining Manassero in the winners’ circle this weekend was Pro V1x loyalist Jonathan Byrd, who won the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open on the PGA Tour in the most spectacular fashion. Byrd made a hole-in-one at the fourth play-off hole to beat fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Martin Laird (Pro V1x) and Cameron Percy (Pro V1 prototype), and complete another fantastic weekend for Titleist.
Manassero trusted the feel and control of Titleist equipment throughout his bag, including the legendary Pro V1x ball, new 910D2 driver, 909F2 fairway, 909H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled approach and lob wedges, and Scotty Cameron Fastback putter. As well as re-writing the European Tour history books, Manassero also becomes the second player to top a leaderboard on the European Tour with the new 910 driver in his bag. In trusting the stability and precision of the 910 to claim victory on the European Tour, Manassero joins Ross Fisher who was victorious at the 3 Irish Open in August with the new Titleist 910D3. As well as being the choice of the top two finishers and nine of the top ten and ties in Spain, Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice amongst the entire field with 63 players, more than all other brands combined.
On the PGA Tour, Jonathan Byrd (Pro V1x) came through an all-Titleist play-off to claim his fourth career title at TPC Summerlin. Having completed regulation play at 21-under par, Byrd’s magnificent hole-in-one at the 204-yard 17th, saw him capture victory in the most dramatic fashion. Also finishing strongly in Las Vegas was Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson and Pro V1 loyalist Spencer Levin, who shared fourth place, as nine of the top ten finishers put their trust in the legendary Pro V1. The #1 Ball in Golf was the overwhelming ball of choice in Nevada, with 95 players trusting Titleist, compared to 17 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets, sand, lob and approach wedges, and putters.
Elsewhere, on the LPGA Tour Jimin Kang (Pro V1x) birdied three of her last four holes to claim the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia by one stroke from fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Julie Inkster (Pro V1). Kang’s final round 6-under par 65 gave her a 9-under par total for her second career LPGA Tour win. On the Nationwide Tour, David Mathis (Pro V1x) won the inaugural Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open by one shot from three players, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Won Joon Lee (Pro V1x) and Jeff Curl (Pro V1x). These victories take Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win count to 126, more than five times the nearest competitor with just 22.
A record breaking victory for Titleist Brand Ambassador Matteo Manassero, coupled with further wins across Worldwide professional Tours for Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x players, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
