FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, is delighted to announce yet another win for the FJ ICON™ and its stylish ambassador Ian Poulter. The FJ ICON has firmly established itself as the unrivalled favourite on tour with an impressive tally of wins since its launch late last year. Poulter’s uncompromising victory this week not only sees the Englishman clinch his first WGC title but also moves him up to 5th in the World Rankings. Poulter dazzled all week, both with his determined display of golf and his flamboyant choice of outfits striding to victory in resolute fashion.
Poulter closed out his final match 4&2 to mark a historic victory for one of golf’s most recognisable characters. Conquering a world class field, Poulter never relinquished his lead in the final after winning the third hole to pull the match back to all square following an early loss on the second. Poulter’s unfaltering confidence on the greens saw him take a firm grip of each and every match he played and was a fundamental part of his Championship victory. The final match took place in tough conditions with Poulter putting on an impressive short game and precision driving display for the crowds. Poulter, dressed all in pink, eventually claimed the title holing from 10 feet on the 34th hole of the day to seal his greatest victory to date. Poulter was clearly overjoyed with his accomplishment and becomes the first Englishman to get their hands on the much coveted “Walter Hagen Cup.”
Poulter chose an array of FJ ICON MyJoys designs during the week each matching his lively choice of daily attire. Poulter’s impressive choice of designs had the Englishman grabbing attention from the get go. The FJ ICON, which utilises the very best features from all FootJoy golf shoes; with finely tailored upper designs, premium materials, performance infused outsoles and customisation that allows for a seemingly endless amount of design and size options, is off to an unprecedented start since its introduction last year. Poulter was also helped to victory wearing the FootJoy SciFlex glove, again with an array of colour options to match his outfit of the day. This week’s win sees Poulter climb to a career high 5th in the world rankings, take 4th spot in the FED EX Cup points standings and almost certainly book his place in Ryder Cup team in Celtic Manor later this year.
Whether it is the all round excellence of the all new FJ ICON, the unrivalled stability of the SYNR-G, or the reliable and consistent performance of DryJoys®, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
