After taking the lead during the third round with a stunning five hole stretch that included four birdies and an eagle, Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson (Pro V1x) secured his maiden PGA Tour title with a final round 67 at the Wyndham Championship. Simpson’s four consecutive rounds in the 60’s saw him post an 18-under par total in North Carolina, vaulting him to third in the FedEx Cup standings, just behind fellow Titleist Brand Ambassadors Nick Watney and Steve Stricker who currently lie first and second respectively. Simpson was joined in the winner’s circle this past weekend by Pro V1x loyalists James Nitties and Brian Unk who furthered Titleist worldwide golf ball win count as the legendary Pro V1 franchise continues to be the choice of champions.
Trusting a host of Titleist equipment to seal victory at the Wyndham Championship, Simpson’s bag included the Pro V1x golf ball, 909D3 driver, 909F2 and 910F fairway metals, 910H hybrid, Titleist 680 irons and Vokey TVD sand and lob wedges. Although the Wyndham Championship marks Simpson’s maiden PGA Tour victory, the former ACC player of the year has trusted the feel and control of Titleist equipment to record 15 top-25 finishes this year, which see him enter the end of season FedEx Play-Offs with realistic hopes of topping the 2011 PGA Tour rankings. The win also marks the 14th victory for a full line Titleist player on the 2011 PGA Tour, as Simpson follows Steve Stricker and Nick Watney, who have each won twice, Adam Scott, Scott Piercy, Johnson Wagner, Gary Woodland, Brendan Steele, Harrison Frazer, Rory McIlroy, Chris Kirk and Scott Stallings into the winners circle.
As well as being the choice of the champion, Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Wyndham Championship with 105 players putting their trust in the feel and control of the legendary Pro V1 franchise, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 15. The precision and playability of Titleist equipment also saw Titleist top the counts for irons sets, sand, lob and approach wedges and putters respectively.
Elsewhere, on the Nationwide Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist James Nitties (Pro V1x) smashed the scoring record en route to winning the Midwest Classic. Nitties’ 26-under par total saw him claim his maiden Nationwide Tour title by 5 strokes over fellow Pro V1x loyalist Jonas Blixt and one other. On the Canadian Tour, Brian Unk (Pro V1x) won the Seaforth Country Classic for the second time in 3 years, posting a 20-under par total. These victories take Titleist’s 2011 worldwide win count to 106, more than six times the nearest competitor with 16.
A maiden PGA Tour title for Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson, coupled with further wins around the world for Titleist golf ball loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
