TOP EIGHT TRUST TITLEIST ON THE MONTEREY PENINSULA
Titleist golf ball loyalists have played their way into the winners circle in five of the last six PGA Tour events, and this weeks’ AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am saw D.A. Points add his name to the ever growing list of Titleist golf ball loyalists to win in 2011. Points fired a final round 5-under par 67 to claim a two stroke victory on 15-under par 271 ahead of an all Titleist Pro V1 top-8. Trusting the feel and control of the Titleist Pro V1x, Points’ final round included an eagle at Pebble Beach’s infamous par-5 14th and a lengthy birdie putt on the 16th as he claimed his maiden PGA Tour victory in style.
Joining Points at the top of the leaderboard on the Monterey Peninsula were a host of Titleist golf ball loyalists, as 12 of the top 13 finishers in California trusted the #1 ball in golf for their success. Hunter Mahan trusted the New Pro V1x to fire a final round 6-under 66 to finish alone in second, ahead of Titleist brand ambassador Tom Gillis (Pro V1) who finished third on 11-under par. One shot further back were Titleist golf ball loyalists Steve Marino and Spencer Levin, who also teed up the New Pro V1x to tie for fourth. Completing the all-Titleist golf ball top-8 were brand ambassadors Nick Watney and Bryce Molder, and Pro V1x loyalist Aaron Baddeley.
As well as being the choice of the top finishers in California, Titleist golf balls were also the choice of the majority of the field, with 107 players putting the Pro V1 or Pro V1x into play, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 14. The playability and control of Titleist equipment also led Titleist to top the counts for iron sets, sand, approach and lob wedges, and putters respectively.
Elsewhere, on the Champions Tour Tom Lehman (Pro V1) topped a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist ball players at the Allianz Championship. Lehman birdied the final hole to edge fellow Pro V1 loyalists Jeff Sluman and Rod Spittle for his third career Champions Tour title. Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice amongst the top finishers in Florida, with seven of the 10 players who finished tied for 9th place or better putting their trust in a Titleist golf ball.
A maiden PGA Tour career victory for D.A. Points, marking a fifth win in the first six events of the 2011 PGA Tour season for Titleist golf ball loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
