VILLEGAS OVERPOWERS THE FIELD WITH COBRA AT THE HONDA CLASSIC

Cobra Brand Ambassador Camilo Villegas secured an impressive victory at the PGA National course to capture his third career PGA Tour victory at the Honda Classic. The Colombian carded a final round 68 to finish on 267, 13-under par, five strokes clear of his nearest competitor. The stylish Villegas impressed throughout the week with a controlled display of power and precision, showcasing his long, straight driving and imperious iron play to post four rounds in the 60’s and overpower his rivals.

Among the Cobra equipment trusted by Villegas was the King Cobra S9-1 Pro S driver, King Cobra Speed LD fairway metals and King Cobra Pro CB irons. This week’s victory caps a phenomenal start to the 2010 season for the Colombian, who has finished inside the top ten in each of his previous two events.

Villegas’ superb driving with his Cobra S9-1 Pro S was a highlight of his game this week, continuing his impressive start to 2010 in which his Cobra driver has powered him to second place on the PGA Tour driving distance stats with an average drive of over 300yards. His form off the tee put him into position to hit almost 75% of greens throughout the week as he trusted the feel and accuracy of Cobra’s Pro CB irons. Villegas’ first victory of the 2010 season continues a rich vein of form for the Colombian, which has seen him finish in third place at the WGC Accenture Match-Play Championship and eighth place finish at the Phoenix Open.

Villegas’ victory at PGA National caps an impressive couple of weeks for Cobra, and following Ian Poulter’s victory at the WGC Accenture Match-Play Championship is the second time in three weeks that a Cobra Brand Ambassador has finished top of the leaderboard.  Poulter trusted the latest driver offering from Cobra, the ZL, for his first World Golf Championship title, benefiting from the Advanced Multi-Material Construction and Adjustable Flight Technology, which offers golfers of all abilities a club face setting to optimise their ball flight for maximum distance, accuracy and forgiveness.

Victory in Florida moves Villegas to 3rd in the FedEx standings and 12th in the Official World Rankings, just seven places behind fellow Cobra Brand Ambassador Ian Poulter who is 5th in the World Rankings. The power and accuracy of Cobra’s technological equipment has helped Cobra Brand Ambassadors reach new heights, as the brand focused on developing innovative, high performance golf clubs continues its winning form in 2010.
